The Rams are in line to have at least 5 guys make the all-rookie team: Nacua, Avila, Turner, Young, and E.Evans. Maybe even Ward.
I've seen people talk about how easy it is for all 14 draftees to make the team due to the lack of talent. But these rookies are performing at a level equal to or greater than the rest of the 2023 draft class.
Beyond these 6, McClendon, Johnson, Mathis, Allen, Tomlinson, and Z.Evans all seem poised to at least be contributors in '24 if not part of the starting lineup. Maybe even Hampton.
That's 13 of the 14 draft picks accounted for. The missing guy - Taylor - is on IR.
Could the Rams upgrade 5 starting spots in 2024 between the draft and FA? I say that's doable. Upgrades at edge, center, CB, DL, & LT all seem to be within reach.
(I'm deferring the backup QB issue for now pending Bennett's situation. I think he's a reasonable option for QB2 if he comes back ...)
Could most if not all of this year's draft class improve heading into year 2? Yeah, I'd say that's doable, too.
Will the Rams be active at the trade deadline next year? I expect them to be in much better playoff position next year at this time. If history is any judge they will go all in 4 or 5 years in a row starting next year in their quest for another Super Bowl.
Beyond all that the Rams don't have a ton of their own free agents to be concerned with. From this list [
www.spotrac.com] I'd try to keep Witherspoon and Dotson for sure and would also keep Shelley, Anchrum, and either Fuller or Johnson if the price was right.
