So this won't be much new.

Caleb irks me a bit, personally. But I have to admit he's a winner, with rare talents. He's expected to go after it all at his level when ... simply put ... the Pac 12 is usually not in the running. And in the Pac 12, there have been teams that have developed their program in a way Lincoln Riley has not.

He has decent WRs, but not the WRs that Penix, Daniels, or Nix have. He doesn't have the O line. And their defense is garbage.

Would I love to have him? Absolutely. Do I think he's the best for our team? No. Not with what he would cost or his overall makeup.

Is he going to be really good? I think so. If I can draft him in dynasty I will.

But not getting him is not the end of the world.

The next is drake Maye, who is playing without a sound O line or any decent WRs (Tez Walker just became eligible).

Both guys are losing, but they don't look the same doing it IMO. I like Maye better personally.

Now, I think the thing guys might be mixing here, is the "off schedule, pocket breakdown" magic ... with "Legit speed" and the ability to run.

Caleb does magic stuff when a play breaks down. Can't teach it.

But pleasssssse don't think that Maye is a pocket guy. They intentionally are stopping him from running to protect him. He ran 185 times last year. This year he's pacing about 60% of that, but more so focusing on that near the end zone, hence his 7 rushing TDs this year vs. 6 all of last year. He's a 4.55 guy. He's mobile.

Then we get to McCarthy and Penix. The top two likely for the Heisman.

Of the two, Penix runs the least. Basically not at all, because he had a bad ACL (1, not 2, but 2 surgeries) and also because he simply doesn't need to. Penix is the least mobile of these top 4. But? He may throw the best ball. He has the best back shoulder of anyone Ive scouted in a long time.
He could slip because of medical, because he's a lefty, and because he's 23/24. We may not even have to trade up to draft him, and he has a 178 QBR.

McCarthy I haven't seen this year, but he's most reminiscent of Justin Herbert. Michigan protects him from a ton, so anyone thinking of drafting him is going to have to find ways to make him uncomfortable. He has a plus arm, can move, and has been trained under a QB and O LIne focused coach. the next level won't be too big for him.

After that we have Ewers.

Jayden Daniels may rise, he's playing really good football. Likely 4.40 guy who can beat angles. Good teammate, mature. Also ... seriously ... 204 QBR. 25 TDs to 3 INTs in the SEC. 11 TDs on the ground last year, a little less pace this year with just 5. Had 900 yads on the ground last year, on pace for 800 this year. And he's keeping pace with Drake Maye on pass yards.

Daniels is not my cup of tea, but ... to quote "The Rookie" ... "If I don't call in an 98 mph fastball, I'm going to lose my job."

Anyway ... mostly saying "I don't think we for sure need to go after Caleb.
