One answer: Bad hold. Hold angled one way or the other; hold not down in time - which throws the klcker's timing way off; kicker uncertain, hesitant, second-guessing the hold or himself in his approach because of past difficulties with the hold; all those considerations and more before we get to the mechanics of kicking.
There's much we don't know that hasn't been mentioned by coaaching staff. Dumping an underperforming vet kicker because, on the surface, he deserves to be fired, and replacing him with an underpeforming inexperienced kicker whose college record looks worse; let's just say I'm a wee bit perplexed with this.
