Kupp's return only makes this passing attack more volatile, more dangerous. Kupp and Puka (say it fast, three times
) doing what Kupp and OBJ did on comlementary routes will be basically uncoverable. Either of them can shake loose in a nanosecond that Stafford can anticipate.
The rumbling subtext to these possibilities is solid play from the left tackle position. And that, going into the game, is something I greatly fear that we ain't got. Runs, lateral pre-snap motion, and 2TE sets might offset that weakness to the extent that McVay can stay disciplined in his use of them. And I'm no more than cringingly hopeful and more than slightly uneasy about McVay going in.
