If the 49ers are gunning for him (and they will be) he should not be in there unless he is fully ready to go.
I know what this means... small chance to win without him, I also know that I don't want him ruined for longer than Sunday by a dirty shot that he's not in shape to absorb.
He took some hard falls and shots to the core-ribcage area on Sunday. Obliques are funny muscles. They can seize up after they've been injured. They don't like being stretched until they're ready. Puka could have been hurting after the Seahawk game, tried to play/practice through it, and the oblique said "NO"
Maybe 72 hours of TLC, walk-throughs to install new plays, Advil, whirlpool, ice, heat, and theraputic massage will brng him back by Sunday. If not maybe a couple of weeks.
If he's in, Warner and Lenoir and Greenlaw and Hargrave, etc. will have their target area: bust him in the slats. And their coaches, like our beloved Greg Williams, will be screaming in their ears to go after the injury.
