I actually like their secondary group. And do think they'll be playing more aggressively this year (in part because the offense will e better and in part based on personnel).
But edge rushing is still the lynch pin to how good- or how bad- this defense will be. Any secondary will have big problems without a decent pass rush.
The unknown is the AD effect. He has made some mediocre edges look decent in the past. So if Young is halfway decent as a rook and simply works hard to improve it is possible we end up with a "good enough" type rush.
Because as much as I give the Rams a hard time about the lack of beef on the DL, the additions they made all have penetration in their game. So when you see a passing down with YOUNG / DONALD / TURNER / HOECHT all on the rush plus JONES seeming to have good timing on the interior blitz maybe pressure won't be a problem.
But at that point we go right back to the issue which is lack of beef up front and how many actual passing downs will we see if we're bleeding yards on the ground on early downs. So stopping the run will be paramount. Every game where we stop the run we should be in it. And when we don't... Gonna be ugly most likely.
