I'm in the camp that believes if they somehow won 5 games last year when everything that could go wrong did that things can only improve from there.
Super Bowl hangovers aren't just for the losing team and the 2022 Rams were a prime example of that. Between the significantly abbreviated offseason, scrambling to fill open coaching slots, etc. it was going to be really hard to enter 2022 with any sort of energy and momentum. Week 1 vs. BUF showed that and it was downhill from there. And no team was going to thrive with the OL injuries they suffered.
I think they have a significantly better coaching staff this year and that will have positive ripple effects. I believe in McVay. They drafted well and those kids will bring good energy. Kupp's issue aside, they seem pretty healthy and
hopefully that remains the case. The 2nd tier veterans they've brought in (Witherspoon, Johnson, Dotson, Shelley) were far from splashy but they were smart.
Stafford remains a top 10 QB. I think the offense overall is going to rebound nicely. More of a power running game will benefit all.
Donald and Jones will anchor the front seven. Who else emerges? Hoecht? Turner? Young? They need some pleasant surprises up front or they'll have defensive issues for sure. I like their secondary (starters and depth).
Tough schedule. But fewer prime time games. If they can somehow start 2-3 I think an 8-9 finish is very possible. This is a team that will be better in November and December than they will be in September.
I've kept feeling all offseason they'll finish 8-9 and will stick with that.
