Is the extent of the play caller's willingness to use it. McVay is exceptional as a play caller, but he's always been on the passhappy side of the scale. Hopefully much of that has to do with RB quality and certainly I think it relates to some extent. He did utilize Gurley quite nicely. But even in that 2018 Super Bowl we saw tendencies of him abandoning the run too easily, not to mention early signs of what I think were poor RB decision making in starting Gurley who was done at that point. If he starts CJ and sticks with him in the run game things may have been different.
So I am skeptical. But I do applaud them adding two guards who have some beef to them. I am so tired of seeing undersized interior OL being trucked back into the pocket.
