Exactly. We had competition when we had good kickers. I don't know why we didn't put another kicker in camp and pick the best of two.
They 100% could've kept Gay if they wanted to but they didn't.
I will say it again. They are looking at this as a "throw away" year regardless of how they "spin" it. Winning is not the priority this year. Sure, they want to be somewhat "competitive" but they have a bigger picture in mind.
The quality of a kicker just doesn't matter to them right now IMO or else they would have done things differently.
I think you're 100% correct Ramsdude. This year is about being "competetive" and developing the young guys.
Though personally I hate hearing "Wait until next year!" before the season has even started.
