You are right if Staff goes down for an extended period but what if he is out 1-2 games because of a concussion. The Backup in a case like that is a bit different then realizing you are toast and letting Stetson play for his replacement.

I think this lies at the heart of the Rams' offseason strategy. Stafford or bust. Then if it's bust it's really bust and we can maneuver from there to get a young QB from that higher draft spot. Upgrading the backup job seems to not help that equation.

But maybe I'm way off on what they are thinking. Not like I'm confident I'm right on that or anything just how I see things.
