He is an excellent player, kind of back who can take over a game. Rams have lacked that since Gurley hung 'em up. They have had one back who has shown an ability to do the same, that back being Akers, but he has had a hard time being available and generally speaking all the backs we have had are the types you cannot count on.
So this is really a no-brainer. Of course the Rams are interested in him.
The problem is that they aren't going to give up a first round pick that might be very high. And their second round pick could be really high too, which means they might have a shot at a top corner or an edge or some of those other positions that tend to degrade quickly as the second round progresses. So for them to be involved in this discussion it would require things to align in such a way to where it is within their price range. Because otherwise it's wiser to just suck it up at RB since this season is likely a wash anyway, and see what they get with Akers.
But if this does go our way and we do end up getting him by reason of him wanting this team or whatever other rationale, we will be a much better team for it. He would slot in day one and offer us much greater threat from that backfield. And I think McVay would probably use him in the pass game more than the Colts did, so maybe we'd see some growth there for him.
Lastly will just say I knocked this guy when he came out for his mileage. But guess what, the guy just stepped into the NFL and produced. So personally I'm a fan of his and think he'd be a real nice addition, we just need the stars to align to make that happen.
