You can't give up 3 number 1's, that player never makes it onto the field, and then claim that it doesn't hurt the team. If so, then number 1 picks don't carry all that much worth.

And that's the idea of the cap and draft picks. New guys have to come along at a cheaper price to replace some star players at more than is affordable.
