Player BioJones began his collegiate career at Nassau Community College in 2017 after matriculating there from Abraham Lincoln High School in Brooklyn, New York. He was a junior college All-American as a freshman and team captain his second year before transferring to Rhode Island. Jones played in four games off the bench in 2019 (one tackle) and started three games in the team's spring 2021 season (12 tackles, 1.5 for loss, four pass breakups). The Rams did not play in the fall of 2020 due to COVID-19 concerns. He had a breakout season in the fall of 2021, garnering second-team Associated Press All-American and second-team All-Colonial Athletic Association honors by ranking fourth in the FCS with six interceptions (also posting 36 tackles, team-high eight pass breakups in 11 starts). Jones was a first-team All-CAA pick last fall, recording 32 tackles and topping the squad with three interceptions and 12 pass breakups in 11 starts. He is Rhode Island's career leader with 33 passes defended. -- by Chad Reuter

Draft Projection
Rounds 6-7
OverviewJones is a ball-hawking cornerback with the short-area quickness to be a factor in zone coverage. While he can press and play forms of man coverage, he’s much more effective in zone, where he allows his instincts to guide him. Jones’ ball skills come naturally and should follow him to the next level provided he can handle the step up in competition and finds a quality scheme fit.
