That game was really the culmination of the Rams-Cowboys rivalry of that era. It was the 8th time in 13 seasons they'd met in the playoffs (1973-1985). The Cowboys faded over the next several years and then, once they revived under Jimmy Johnson, it was the Rams that faded badly.
