It'll be interesting, when the final 53 shakes out, to see who is kept for special teams ability first, and positional fill-in second. We could have used a blocking TE from the practice squad last year when the OL broke down. Again, with 2 pass-catching TE's potentially on the roster, a bolcking TE as a 3rd who can contribute significantly on ST's might have an edge, regardless if a "better" position player might be available.
The conversations between coaches when it comes down to those choices will be interesting. Our new ST coach might want Z. Smith or whoever makes the cut as a returner to have some decent blockers. On that note, even though he's practicing there, I don't want to risk Nakua's value as a receiver by having him return. His injury history make it a bad risk, IMO.
