A clear talent exodus on defense. No question.
But I think if you look at the Rams organization as a whole it's what I would call much "healthier."
Part of that is literal. So many injured players from a year ago are healthier. Not having played 21 games like in 2021 and, in some cases, players not having played since midseason (including Stafford, Kupp and Donald) is better for their bodies.
They really didn't have an offseason last year. Part of the price you pay for going to the Super Bowl and playing in mid-February.
McVay has much more of the coaching staff that he wants in place. Last year was a mad scramble to plug holes on the staff. The additions this year (Lake, Pleasant, Wendell, etc.) seem much more strategic and methodical.
And they had what seems like a very good Draft class. Smart selections, mostly value picks, a good infusion of young talent.
They are also healthier as far as salary cap situation. That might not help them win games in 2023 but it's a necessary and beneficial step for the organization.
