Two I still clearly recall that seemed like they logically could have and should have gone different directions:
2000: Ray Agnew was excellent in 1999 but was aging (turning 33). Farr's knee issues were getting worse. Not great DT depth. To me DT Cornelius Griffin of Alabama was easily their most logical choice at 31 (instead of Canidate). Griffin went 42nd overall to the NYG and went on to a solid 10-year career with them and WAS.
2002: They had lost Az Hakim in free agency and really needed to back fill that WR3 role to keep the GSOT's WR depth advantage going. I really wanted them to take LSU WR Josh Reed (who went 5 picks later to BUF). Would have fit that slot role well. Had played very well at LSU in 2000 and 2001. He went on to have a solid career there (311 catches in 8 years). Instead Rams signed Terrence Wilkins from the Colts who washed out in one year and Rams had to go back to the drawing board drafting Curtis and McDonald in 2003.
