On this Date:
…1925 Woodley Lewis was born… The Rams drafted Lewis 8/103/1950 out of Oregon (Manual Arts HS)… Only the third African-American player drafted by the NFL.

Lewis played with the Rams from 1950-thru-1955 (6 seasons)…
Played in three title games for the team…winning in 1951…

He was traded to the Cardinals in 1956… He was a top flight DB…picking up 23 interceptions for the Rams—12 in 1950…he was also an excellent return man…with three punt and 1 kick return for a touchdown…in is last year with the Rams he caught 19 passes…and became a two-way player with the Cardinals…

One of only three players to never miss a game in the 1950s…

He spent his last season with the Dallas Cowboys in 1960…

Lewis died December 29th, 2000 at the age of 75 from kidney problems. He should be better remembered.

#HelmetHornsMatter

“Well, the color is good, I like the metallic blue,” Youngblood recently said while laughing, via NFL Journal. “The horn is terrible. It looks like a ‘C.’ When I first saw it on the logo I honestly thought it was a Charger logo.

“Now when I see it on the helmet, it just isn’t a ram horn. There is no distinct curl like a mature ram horn. I don’t know how the Rams could get that wrong. That is your symbol and it has been for what? Seventy years or more? Longer than I have been alive? It’s just not us, it’s not the Rams.”---Mr. Ram Jack Youngblood
