Long downfield "quick strikes" takes a lot of time to get off. That is very difficult in today's NFL. And, since Stafford cannot be described as a mobile QB, he would get much too beat up to base our offense around intermediate to longer pass plays and "quick strikes" UNLESS our OL becomes stellar (unlikely, but not entirely impossible).
I think the Rams want Stafford for several more years. The only way that happens is if he is not subjected to a lot of hits. And that means a more ball-control type of offense than a quick strike one (not meaning that quick strikes won't happen occasionally).

I think McVay’s offseason moves indicate that he’s ‘evolving’ and this ‘23 O will be a bit different and better able to cope with the likes of the 49ers.
Specifically…
Better OL physicality
More 12 sets and also more TE targets
More RB screens
Better punter to assist in field position
