He grades all his own players and he actually watches film on all of them, which only a small group of media experts can say. Never parrots other opinions, which is also rare. Sticks to his guns and owns his mistakes, of which he has some legendary misses but of course you're gonna have those. Lot of people love to knock the guy but I think he still stands out in this day and age in those regards. So many of today's experts lean on connections and try to align their boards to what teams think and parrot other experts' takes. Mel just does his own thing.
