I do agree that Bruss is a starter right now.
He was hurt early in PS last year so never gained any experience. Shelton would start over him now. I think Jackson played equally well at T and G and doubt he sits at all. Boom got off to a bad start last season with Von Miller and was hurt. I think he can be a plus LT.
I see it as NB, AJ, Allen , Shelton, Havs.
Bruss would be the sixth man everywhere except center and Shelton slides to center if/when Allen gets hurt. We may pick up a vet too. I would really-sign NSecke as a back up LT.
Yeah I see no reason to doubt that he is a solid RG in year two. If the Rams have any question on that whatsoever we would have seen interviews of the interior OL types that go earlier in this draft but the only guy who is slated early that was interviewed is Torrence.
So the Rams seem to be poised to do what they usually do which is add to the pipeline which precludes early OL picks. Not gonna act like that's what I'd do. But from all indications it seems that's where they're at.
But back to Bruss I liked the pick last year. Him getting hurt, well that happens. What I did not like was how raw he looked in pass pro, but sometimes rooks heads are spinning from the playbook and everything and that seemed to be the case with him. But wrt his film (in college) the guy moved people and I applaud the Rams for looking for that. I mean we could say they are deviating from what they usually want at OL by interviewing Torrence, but truth is we could probably consider Bruss to be a deviation as well in that his game had physical elements.
This all makes me think McVay has been considering a change to more power focus in that run game, or at least an ability to mix in more power with his zone and be more of a complete run blocking line that can beat defensive fronts more than one way. Because comparing him to Shanny you have two offensive geniuses who have had varying success on the ground, with Shanny doing much better than him with his FB direction. So of course it follows that McVay is also trying to adjust what he's doing and more physicality at OG seems to be what he's thinking. Or what he may be thinking.
