I'm the same way however, IMO, when we were younger we were more impressionable by our sports heroes. So over the years the nostalgia of our amazement grows within our fond memories thus making those truly great even greater today. I enjoy telling my family members about watching Jim Brown, Deacon Jones, Wilt Chamberlain and a host of other HoF greats and how they would still be great...probably. But I know their status has only grown as I age.
My top 10 DE's, in no particular order:
(Tier One)
Deacon Jones
Bruce Smith
Reggie White
(Tier Two)
Chris Doleman
Michael Strahan
JJ Watt
Gino Marchetti
(Tier Three)
Julius Peppers
Lee Roy Selmon
Carl Eller
