but Rams felt (and they were right) they were on the verge
of a Super Bowl and needed a QB better than Goff to get there
And it worked.
Packers thought they were going to be good--but they
overestimated their talent, they'd been to playoffs
in 1972 with no quarterback, then injuries in 1973
so they though, whith a quartreback, they could
get there.
The problem was Hadl was not Stafford. Hadl
was struggling 2nd half of 1973--and declining
Stafford was a guy on a bad team..
But the haul for Stafford and for hadl kind of similar
The results are different.
Take Ramsey--rams paid 2 #1s and a little more for him
in the 1970s Raiders gave a 1, 2,3 for Monte Jackson
the quite as much, but similar
But Ramsey, now, with salaries as they are, makes
things different, so when a guy is older and not a CB
you are not going to get as much as he was worth
even 3-4 years ago
SO, agree--in some ways things are different, but
there are examples in Rams history that are parallel
