I think we screwed ourselves by showing our hand too early. Other teams knew we were going to move him period, so they bid low.
Also it sounds like we did not want to trade him within the division so it is possible we had a better offer from say the Niners.
Guessing at best maybe some team was offering a low first. Maybe the FO was looking to draft two TEs and really liked Hunter. Maybe they see Hunter with a year experience as a second round pick. Maybe they see a third in this draft for what they need as good as a second rounder next year.
Perhaps they trust their drafting in the 3rd round to find gems like Kupp etc. and figure it works for them. They also tend to like lower draft picks due to the lower salary requirements.
Then there is the fact that Ramsey really wanted to go to Miami and perhaps the Rams were willing to take a little less to help out the player that helped us win a championship.
Lastly, perhaps you are right and the market for Ramsey is not that great considering his age and salary, but that seems less likely since Miami just guaranteed him his salary.
That’s a lot of maybes, slapper.
Maybe Snead got hosed?
We lost a top 3 CB and simultaneously created a huge hole in our secondary in order to save a measly few million on the ‘23 cap.
That’s garage sale territory in terms of relative value, if you ask me.
Snead sold a cornerstone piece for peanuts. I suspect that the whole league is snickering at the Rams today.
