Which I am ok with. I have never felt McVay is a lifer coach. And he is going to want to move to broadcasting at some point for some very good reasons. But I will be very (pleasantly) surprised if he is the Rams head coach come 2025.
But I do love him committing to more than a year to year thing. It could be he and Stafford (and maybe Donald?) have sat down and said hey, lets do this together for two more years and ride off into the sunset together. Just speculation.
But it is also helpful, I think, for both the coaching staff and any potential free agents they want to sign to know he will be there past this year.
Like others have said, the adversity and coming to terms he had to do this past season may have really reframed everything for him and put him in a better place mentally and emotionally, which is huge. And he just might now have the coaching staff he will trust to offload more onto. All good.
