I said it some days ago even before the rumors about the Rams possibly making Stafford availabel for a trade that the Nr .1 goal should be to aquire as much draft ammo to get in position for one of the persumed franchise QBs coming out next season.
I said maybe the Rams know that Stafford will never be 100% physically again and they have to look for his successor rather sooner than later.

Stafford’s possible successor is sitting right there under their noses.
His name is Baker Mayfield. Not too expensive and won’t cost a single draft pick.
It’s very unlikely that McVay will be able to draft a better QB to develop.
