We had something they called a television (black and white) when they played. When the Rams came west in 46 (about the time TV was expanding to cover sports) I watched every west coast Ram away game against the Niners. KTLA Channel 5 carried all the Ram 49er games played in the old Kezar stadium where the Sea Gulls would take over the game around the slightly sunken 50 yd line. In those days the only way to catch the east coast NFL teams was the radio. During preseason games at the Coliseum they played at night with a white football that had black stripes around the pointed ends of the ball so the camera could more easily follow the ball when in the air.
There were some great 49er players those days including Joe Perry, Hugh McElhenny-probably the shifitiest running back I've ever seen next to Barry Sanders.
Now THAT is a history lesson my friend.
