It was Caley. So that alone shows he was valued as a TE coach at the very least. Not sure if he's smart enough to be an OC, but not all guys are. I do wonder how much run game knowledge he has though. Maybe that's an area of growth he can contribute to as he learns under McVay.

Problem for him of course is that McVay tends to hire his OCs from outside. I think he prefers the shiny and new objects. But yeah this hire looks like a good one, which is going to factor in big time in a TE draft.

So maybe what the Pats used to prioritize is what the Rams will prioritize this year at TE. And maybe they hit on one now.
