First, I'm not looking to either one of you to be mindreaders, soothsayers, or to try to speak for the pilot; however, IF it was pilot error... then I'm looking for an answer based on your own knowledge and/or experience. If conditions deteriorated AFTER the helicopter was en route, what recourse does the pilot have once he's in the air, if he's thinking safety first? Does he turn around and head back to the airfield he departed from? Does he look for the nearest airport to land at? I mean... should the pilot try to get out of the soup, or instead navigate through it (cause I think he tried that). In short... what could have been done differently? I know much is not yet known concerning the cause and a lot of other stuff so my question may not be fair, but give it a whirl anyhow.
