which was a Motorola... but couldn't. I may be remembering it incorrectly, however. Most of the 'cabinet' type TV's had a record player on one side of the TV... I do not remember ours as having a record player although we did have that type a few years late.. .quite a few years later.
Ours had a folding door.. meaning it was hinged in the middle. The brightness of our TV screen was so light that we would have to leave the door open, to block outside light, then sit someone off center to view the TV.
Every morning... until I was about 10, you could find me in front of our TV watching the test pattern waiting for the first broadcast of the day. "Cartoon Capers". But I could only watch half the show because I had to catch the school bus before Cartoon Capers concluded.
BTW... while I'm boring you with memories - we had two school busses for Tranquillity.... drivers were Mr & Mrs. Machado. Mr. Machado was my driver.. I was lucky... Mrs. Machado was to be feared. She made students 'be quiet' and 'sit down'. I heard the horror stories. And a couple of times I rode with Mrs. Machado when I'd spend the night with a friend who lived in her pick-up area.... I can still remember the terror at getting on her bus just knowing that I may not arrive at school alive. Chipped my first tooth in a school bus... falling on the metal top rail on the back of the seat in front of me... never got it fixed and still have that chip today. - JamesJM
