Not only from a casual observer for entertainment but also from a technical side. Do you know that there is far more cost per second that goes into a 30 second commercial than a full one hour series ? Because the message has little time to tell there is far more attention to the details (i.e. expertise and talent). Some are positively fascinating when it comes to a quick line or depiction that provides a solid message. Others, you have no idea as to what they wanted to sell.
OTOH my wife hates commercials and will intentionally delay something we want to watch for at least a half an hour so she can skip through the commercials. I tell her she's missing some of the very best television out there but it's useless. Then again I like to go outside and stare at the stars at night with a glass of scotch and my springer next to me. I think it's because I'm an only child and am very comfortable alone. She comes out and wants to know what the hell I'm doing staring at the stars. My response? "you will never understand".
