I ran 12 miles this morning, fueled entirely by nervous energy for the Rams-Boys game!
It was kind of a "dress rehearsal" for the race, 2 weeks from today. My goal is a Sub-2-hour, which requires a 9:10 pace. I ran this morning at an 8:49 pace, so it should be doable, but I was on pancake-flat Arizona farmland. The Craft Classic is in Fountain Hills, Arizona and so it will be hilly, which has me nervous since I've done precisely NO hill training since before getting run down by a car last April. We'll see what happens, but I figure I have a good chance.
Starting NOW, it's "taper time". The die is thus cast, and there's not much I can do for my fitness with the race this close. Just some short tempo runs, lots of stretching and relaxing, eating clean, those are about all I can control now. Time to trust the training. I'll try to remember to post pics of the race in 2 weeks!
My head nurse in my neurological recovery hospital told me back in May that I would not be able to run this race. She will be getting a picture, as well!
