If we're talking "perfect" football weather
All our high school games are at night , 7:30
So the "perfect" football weather are those later Fall nights , we're you have a beautiful Fall day , sunshine , little wind , highs in the upper 50's to around 60 , bright blue skies , huge white puffy clouds everywhere
most of the leaves have changed colors and have started to fall , all the farmers harvest equipment go silent as they all make they're way to town
the sun sets about a half hour before kickoff , the temps start to drop as quickly ,
Godfathers Pizza is catering the tailgate party
players on the field before kickoff doing warm ups, telling inappropriate jokes
the stands are filling up , people wearing lite jackets and carrying blankets in school colors
the air becomes cool and crisp , as it drops into the lower 40's and even into the upper 30's , and you can start to see your breath , the smell of popcorn can be smelt clear onto the field , as you look into the stands for your girlfriend , you can see the steam rising from the people holding their hot coffee and coco ,
cheerleaders in short skirts , knitted caps and mittens , as you look across the field to check out the other teams cheerleaders
The high school band is playing , but not very well , because half the band members are missing because their on the football team
laughter can be heard from groups of farmers talking about the days events , with the occasional one yelling . Lets Go Black !!!!
younger kids playing tackle football in the open area near the field
the stands are full , and loud , and yet , you can still pick your mom's voice out of all the others
players lining up along the sideline for the National Anthem ,as the American Flag waves in the corner of the field , a huge flock of geese do a low fly over
Captains to the center of the field
it's game time Friday night in Northwest Iowa..............
