"ADDICTION". Every bit as bad as other common addictions.
I suppose we are all curmudgeons because in this electronic age it will only get worse and worse and exponentially increasing (faster rate). In the not too distant future we will all be inside a driveless car powered by electricity. They have done studies that show that the medical costs associated with auto accidents will be hugely reduced (i.e. more than half). Insurance rates will go down if not the entire auto insurance industry will be eliminated, etc. We may not see it in our time but rest assured human factors alone will cause it . Baseball umpires are on their way out too. Some day players will be eliminated and we may be watching our Rams on a video game board. We will also be treating ourselves by surgery as a result of digital advances in the medical field. We won't be reading books from a kindle or hard copy because our eyes will be able to flip onto a screen with certain movements of the eyelids. BTW: that procedure is closer than you realize in the commercial airline industry. Soon pilots will be able to see the instrumentation and maps and all kinds of stuff just by using chips in their eyelids.
All this stuff is contained in well researched articles in magazines such as Scientific American, The Economist, and on public radio programs like Ted Talk, etc.
