I like them... I have one - I also have the computer version which I use on my desktop, laptop, and iPad. It's ok. I have read books using Kindle... BUT....
I simply cannot get used to them in the way I am used to a hard cover or paperback. And don't ask me why, I'm not a psychologist, but I don't enjoy the 'process' of reading as much on a Kindle, (or the computer Kindle), as much as a hand held book. SURE... what's you're used to you... I know that.. I'm not trying to say good/bad.
Here's what I do... but I have to figure out how to make this distinction... basically my choice in books is either A or B.... lets see, how do I say this. If it's purely for entertainment, something I wish to get absorbed in.... I will always order the book itself.. hard cover sometimes, paperback often. If it's something I'm curious about... OR... it's a topic I'm studying... like a new computer book, then Kindle Version.
I recently bought the Kindle version of Lord Of The Rings... BECAUSE.. my copy of the books were worn out. (I read the novel once a year). I hated it, not the book - the medium. It wasn't the same... it got in the way of my 'reading'... if that makes any sense and don't ask me to explain it - all I know is that it DID. SO.... I got back online and ordered the hard copies. Bliss.
Side-topic.. I am the devil. I am, I'm admitting this aloud, a 'corner of the page tuner' to mark my place. NO, I don't like doing it.. and YES, I even P$## myself off doing it.. BUT... I can NOT, and I'm old enough now to know I never will acquire the talent, keep track of my bookmark thingies, (whatever they are called). I have many.. and some are BEAUTIFUL... theme oriented, tassels, they are a sight to behold... but at most they make it through two nights and then... hell if I know.. under the bed somewhere? In the garage, the sofa cushions? Maybe in the dangerous chemical cabinet behind the Lime-Away. Don't ever borrow a book from me.. well, unless that is you want to know exactly where I fell asleep while reading the book. - JamesJM
