I've told you guys this before. Every year, with no exception, people drive out into the country near my home and drop dogs off. I'd say we average two per year.... some years probably as many as 10. There are a few other homes near me but for some reason they usually set up residence in my yard. Yeah.... I know, feeding them is probably why they do that but I can't let a dog starve.
Now look at these two beauties... how in the HELL can a person just desert them?
No way I can keep them... got a find a home for them or... well, not many choices. They are friendly but typical "Husky"... although I'm sure these are mixed... by that I mean, Huskies, (somebody is going to jump on me for this) are not by nature particularly sociable dogs... in my experience. NO, not mean in the least... they wag their tails, like to be petted, but they don't get all bubbly with enthusiasm like a Lab.
Anyway... we put this photo, and some others, on Facebook tonight. They have collars... but I have no doubt they are not 'lost', they were abandoned. Hopefully someone takes them... I hope to GOD someone takes them. - JamesJM
Beautiful dogs.
My main character lives waaay up north, and he stumbles across a litter of Huskies in the snow, and only one survives. He takes her home and nurses her back to health. Becomes essential in his own recovery. I call her Lara, from Doctor Zhivago.
