Back from the concert

So what have I learned. As far as I can tell, tickets, at least to see this band, do not appreciably get cheaper a few days before the show. Maybe just the opposite. I'm sure there were probably cheaper tickets outside the arena but I didn't see any scalpers. I don't know.

The hotel we are staying at took me to the entrance and picked me up there after the show. I had to tip the driver otherwise it was complimentary. This is an awesome way to go to a concert. For less than the price of parking you get front door service.

I wasn't sure what to expect. But the crowd was chill. A mix of young and old and in between. Few fair weather fans. A few jerks but no big deal.

The show was spectacular. Does no one sit down at concerts anymore? Jeez. So despite having a perfectly good seat. I stood the entire time. The set list bordered on obscure but I think everyone knew them pretty well. Even the younger kids... I think parents must have brought them.

Tool is a boring band to watch. The singer stands in the dark beside the drummer. (Supposedly a "we not me" move to take the spotlight off the singer and urge the audience to watch the band as a whole) The guitarist and bassist barely move from their spot. But the laser show is good and it is all visually interesting. The sound is stunning. They have to be the tightest band in the world. Lol.

The band is so rythmic that it looks a little like a dead show at times with people just kind of swaying to the music. But its definitely not the Grateful Dead. It is loud and aggressive and unforgiving for the most part. Tool is their own genre. They do their thing and that's it. And they do it extremely well.

Anyway. It was an awesome experience. And I sat beside very nice people. And being alone was not an issue in the least. I'd do it again in a heartbeat. And I'd go tomorrow if I could.

Thanks again for the advice and everything.
