I have a fairly extensive list of bands I've seen, but we'll just concentrate on the ones I've seen multiple times..
Kiss - have seen them at least 7 times.. From the Destroyer tour to the Reunion show.. Without makeup once (meh) Mostly with the original lineup, but also with Vinnie Vincent, Eric Carr, Bruce and Kulic..
Judas Priest - seen them 6 times, if I remember correctly.. First time was golden as they played my hometown and I got to drive them around town and hang with them backstage all night.. super guys..
Iron Maiden - seen them about 6 times.. From the Killers tour with Paul Dianno on vox (opening for Priest) through the "Give Me Ed… 'Til I'm Dead World Tour" with Dio and Motorhead opening.. Did i mention last year while taxi-ing thru LAX we rolled right past Iron Maiden's 747, Ed Force One.. Caught us both by surprise, so couldn't get the camera out..
Styx - saw them about 7 times from the Grand Illusion tour opening for Kiss to playing our hometown twice - last time front row seats in the orchestra pit..
Rob Zombie/White Zombie - saw White Zombie twice and Rob Zombie 4 times, including twice in our hometown..
WASP - saw them 3 times, including opening for them in Dallas.. We hung with them all day - they were some tripping dudes..
Boston 2x, Van Halen 4x (including front row/backstage on first LP tour), Heart 2x, Aerosmith 2x, Blue Oyster Cult 2x, Eddie Money 3x (including 2x front row/backstage) and just a ton more bands I can and cannot even think of...
Lillian Axe - you may hafta look them up as they were a signed national act, but never got big - 5 times including getting up and guesting on guitar with them.. We did AC/DC's Sin City and Stevie Balze handed me his guitar and he became the lead singer, which was a riot...
But.. I've seen Pantera more than any other band.. I saw Pantera at least 80 times in the 80s, but only once after they got signed.. The also saw my bands play several times... They were from Arlington, Texas and we became really good friends for years.. I guested onstage with them several times in several cities.. When guitarist Darrell Abbott (known as Dimebag Darrell - I knew him as Diamond Darrell) was shot and killed onstage playing with Damageplan, I was crushed and had lost an old friend who I went back with to 1983.. I dunno if I've ever really gotten over that.. I saw the constant work and effort they put in to get where they were.. For Darrell to be murdered like that onstage BECAUSE of what he was so good at.. well.. I just never fully got over that..
Friendship is like peeing your pants.. Everybody can see it, but only you can feel the warmth..
