Yes thanks for putting that up and I do recall the draft reports and takes on him. But with all the rumors and whispers about him not paying attention in practice, or focusing on rap lyrics in the OL meetings, general laziness and lack of love of the game, stuff like that I would think would be those things the coaches at Auburn would tell the Rams about.
It's funny how the head coach tends to affect quality of drafting as much as they do. I mean the moment Vermiel came aboard the Rams for the most part steered clear of dumb players and busts and what happens the year after he leaves? A draft with Trung Candidate, Jacoby Shepherd, and John St Clair headlining a terrible class.
What I was sort of insinuating was that for all Fisher's experience and tenure he seemed to lack that communication ability outside his own staff wrt connections and knowledge. I assume, for example, that Vermiel probably would have had a whisper in his ear about GRob's general laziness. And I know we'll never know the truth on that but to me at least it's an interesting "what if" type of exercise.
And when you look at McVay who has done such a great job for us in his three years he has a lot of the same qualities Vermiel had irt the league connections, and his ability to work and talk to people. That is something I am starting to realize is crucial in that HC position.
