well again. KD and his team did all the polling. he explicitly said that those who prefer the "ferragamos" as you call them are a subset of the full population of rams fans. and such a statement makes perfect sense as they likely appeal mostly to individuals who grew up in the 70s-80s. im not sure i would use the word "delusional" but it sure doesnt sound like hes talking about a majority. i mean is it even a majority here? i know for sure there is a large contingent that prefer the blue and white unis. but tbh i dont know the breakdown.

that being said...i agree using the "traditional" uniforms doesnt guarantee new fans wouldn't come aboard but i would be SHOCKED if KD and his team didnt already test this hypothesis. i would be equally shocked if a majority of 10-18 years olds said they preferred the "ferragamos". i mean how many kids do you know who prefer the grungy old thing that dad thinks is cool over the shiny cool new thing?

you can however get a plurality. though i suspect that more emphasis was put on the preferences of younger fans.

that being said, why would you find that "appalling"? it makes perfect sense for the rams. old timers (which dont agree either btw depending on when you were born) arnet going to switch teams because of the jersey. you may complain and gripe but you will still cheer for the rams and probably buy a new jersey or maybe a throwback. in order to build a fanbase in la they NEED to appeal to a younger audience who will buy in now and then continue to route for the team for the next 50 years when you and I are long dead. if that appalls you, im not sure what to say... kronke wants to make money, not cater to the nostaglic boyhood fantasies of an ageing fanbase. but hey...maybe im wrong.

No, I don't have to agree and I don't agree. What the Rams eventually do and what I think they should do are two different things but I don't think anyone suggested otherwise.

But I don't simply defer to whatever market studies the Rams have done because those are clearly not fool proof. Not study will reveal a 100% agreement about anything but I think it's clear that a significant majority of fans wan't something similar in this case. And IMO, it's alarming for the Rams to suggest that only crusty old-timers clinging to the past and with no actual taste, just a slavishness to nostalgia are the ones who want to move forward with essentially the Ferragamo's.

Fairy land? Do you mean fantasy land? Either way, I don't think it's delusional to suggest that the majority of Rams fans, past and present prefer the a) colors and b) design of the Ferragamo's. I know that all Rams fans don't feel that way but it isn't outlandish at all to suggest or think that most still do.

Which leads me to wonder about the line of thinking that demands a whole new design for the new fans. Does that imply that new fans will only jump on board if there is something new? If so, I think that's faulty logic. I mean, doesn't the argument work both ways? You rightly point out that most Rams fans will continue to root for the team regardless of just about any design and colors they come up with. But that doesn't mean that new fans wouldn't come aboard if they stayed with something more traditional.

To imply or suggest that a whole new look has to be adopted so future fans will buy merchandise isn't accurate at all IMO.
