as we sit currently the Rams have these players under contract:
Joe Noteboom G/T
David Edwards G/T
Bobby Evans T
Austin Corbett G/C
Jamil Demby G
Brian Allen C
Rob Havenstein T
Jeremiah Kolone G
Chandler Brewer G
Nate Trewyn C
And from the sounds of it, Whitworth will be back. And that has a cascade effect down the line. Noteboom is now not going to be the LT, and it forces him back inside to LG. Which is fine, but now what do you do with Corbett? Is he a backup? Does he compete for the OC spot? I think he should.
So now you have Corbett competing with Allen (last years starter) along with Trewyn for the OC spot. Now Trewyn can be cut without any cap loss at any time. Same with Brewer and Demby. This doesn't even include the possibility of the resigning of Blythe. In my mock I thought they could do it because my thought is that he will be cheap and you could get him on a short deal and he would be a leader at the OC spot. I hope Im wrong.
All that said, if the Rams do not resign Blythe and do draft a OC, that tells me 2 things: they aren't happy with Allen and they also think Corbett is a OG only prospect.
Now I'm not burning a pick on a OC that may of may not make this team. Picks are too few and too valuable. So (again, this is me personally) I would draft a OC no later then the 3rd round and it would have to be 1 of Cesar Ruiz, Tyler Biadasz or Lloyd Cushenberry. I think Biadasz might be overrated by me because after he came back from injury, his play declined and I think that slips him more then I would be willing to move him. I would love Ruiz. Didn't think he would come out. He's a really good fit. probably a late 1st to middle of the 2nd type guy IMO. Cushenberry had a monster finish to his career in the playoff games and then at the Senior Bowl. He is rising and I think he is firmly in the 2nd round. Biadasz, depending on medicals is a late 2nd to middle of the 3rd type IMO.
