Re: Staley and the roster

I agree with the 3 priorities being OL, DL and Edge and I would add ILB if they don't address it in the offseason. Either way, I am seriously concerned about getting all these holes plugged to the degree where this team can compete with 2 playoff teams. And I am really concerned with the ILBer spot. Kiser and Reeder are not the athletic and rangey ILBers that a Fangio defense typically prefers. Now. does that mean thats what Staley likes in his ILBers? maybe, maybe not. Littleton is gone, Young could be something but is a huge ? and couldn't crack the lineup in Baltimore. And Travin Howard is all of 5'-11" and 207 lbs. He will not hold up to the power run schemes Seattle and SF put out there at that weight.

The reason I took Fotu was real simple. I am taking the biggest, toughest NT available to not only help take pressure off AD, but to combat the NFC West and specifically the 9ers and Seahawks run games. The west now goes thru them, like it or not. I personally am drafting to beef up my lines, to get tougher.

Lot of sensible football insight for me right here.
The thing that struck me is that SF is playing so well with their OL schemes. They appear able to run with just about anyone in their backfield with that successful unit.
Here's the rub for me. I don't think that Rams can afford to give up too much weight inside at LB. Kiser, and Reeder don't have the kind of pace Littleton does. But I'm not sure that a lighter weight class at ILB is going to survive 16 games. And when we start getting roughed up by teams like the Ravens, and the 9ers it shows.
Sure we need someone next to AD, especially with the loss of Brockers. I'm not a sure a rookie will get enough snaps, and dominate to offset #90 absence.
That goes for a rookie at Littleton's spot, too.

These are the type of questions that get me watching guys workout at the combines. See how Fotu is healing up? See how some of these LBs approach their fitness?

Ought to get a lot more interesting as we enter free agency, and interpret the roster as it morphs.
