I admit we have few details, and who knows if the writer of this article got it right.
But unless the QB was exempted, then teams are going to need not only a very good back up, but a pretty decent 3rd string QB, too. There simply aren't enough good starters to go around right now, let alone back ups. So QB play on most teams would fall off the map for those 2 extra games.
The other thing that seems obvious to me is that roster sizes would have to increase to perhaps 57 or 58. So I'm not sure that a salary cap increase of $15 mil is enough.
Frankly, this idea sounds like the Marvel Comics version of Professional Football to me.
If the NFL REALLY wants an 18 game season, then I don't blame the players for wanting more money, and again, the roster size would have to increase by at least 3 or 4 players because of the additional wear and tear and, no doubt, injuries.
But, I also think that Preseason would need to be decreased by at least 1 game. It is foolishly long right now, anyway.
