I only saw the live play of it and I thought that they did get his facemask a little bit but it seemed like it was after he was already in the grasp and going down. I didn't react "FACEMASK, FACEMASK!", more of "huh, they "could" have called facemask on that too". I was more focused on why Goff didn't just go for the goal line right away instead of delaying and giving the defense time to close in on him. Pretty sure Aikman said the same thing.
So, it might have actually warranted a penalty call but it wasn't nearly as critical to the outcome of the game. Whether the Rams score 3 or 7, the Saints still have time and opportunity to affect the outcome. I just don't agree that it was the same thing.
