“When you just look at Temarrick, he’s what they’re supposed to look like,” McVay said. “Great size, great length. He can truly play that Y position, but he’s also athletic enough to move around in kind of that ‘F’ role we identify on our offense. But I think he’s able to play inline, he can reach Sam linebackers, he can protect in some of the play-actions and different things. But then he’s also a viable receiving option, so I think in an ideal world, he is your Y tight end, but that’s not exclusive to him being able to move around just based on the athleticism, and so far he’s demonstrated that.”
First, thanks for the article 43
Second, when Fisher / Snead first brought in T. Hem......he had all the physical attributes. McVay's recount of his tools confirms the "eye test."
The game in which he got injured, he was a primary participant. In fact, if memory serves he was in his 3 point stance on that snap, and it was the first time I really saw him for what he might become. The length, the low set, and to my eye a first swift step. You put all his ingredients together, and if they cook up right, you ought to have an extraordinary success.
Which just brings me back to that moment last summer. Is he an accident waiting to happen?
Would truly enjoy to see him out there, and productive, but it's a position fraught with contact at the highest level. Win some of them, and lose some of them.
Lot of potential with this young TE. If I'm fortunate, I'll get to see him sparkle.
