It's the NFL........You get knocked out of games once in a while.
Cooks just bounces back and averages 1,000 yd seasons........I'll take that kind of production in a heart beat....Liked him out of college, and he is legit All-Pro WR.
Was Holt the last 1,000 yd rec for the Rams?
Shows you how much weight 1000 yards carries in today's game.
They need to reset the benchmark to 1300-1500 yards since everybody is saying that game has changed so much.
But I invite you to go back and watch the game, watch how they took him out of his element by muscling him, bumping him, pressing him until they eventually took him out.
Its the way you stop speed...hit them in the gut.
I agree with most of your stuff and respect your takes for sure, hoss.
That said, getting muscled out of a few plays and then getting "knocked out" of a game while/after torching the best...BY A WIDE MARGIN...pair of corners in the league for 100 yards isn't something to "ding" him/his value IMO. The Jax D did that to pretty much everyone. The notion that "that's the blueprint for shutting him down" can...A- be said of MOST WR's, and B-you need the ability/players to do so...I count 2 teams in the league that can definitively do that on a consistent basis for an entire game....Jax is one...and he plays for the other IMO.
No that cannot be said of most receivers for most receivers aren't 5'9 190lbs. This is a big man's game and if you get body on him you can disrupt timing and knock him off his routes. Jax did not have the best corners in the NFL despite the media hoopla. When you give up over 500 yards passing to Pitt and get carved up second half by Danny Amendola you ain't the best! Instead of playing man they played a LOT of zone, that' ain't highlighting "best" corner play lAs far as Watkins 7 TD's in 10 chances...it's great.....but a small sample size and likely a HUGE outlier ( i most certainly could be off) in his career before last year, and moving forward.
Yes a small sample size that should have been exploited, don't you think?-What are his comparative RZ #'s before last year (I HONESTLY don't know).....what will they be moving forward..? We will have to wait and see on the latter.
It doesn't matter what his numbers were before just like it doesn't matter what Robert Woods numbers were before, different system, different qb's.-How much of said RZ success he enjoyed last year was due to the D focusing on TG (and maybe Kupp/Woods)...? People love to claim he was a big part in TG and others success because he "drew a lot of attention"...well, that cuts both ways IMO..especially after TG started tearing the league apart.
Every piece in an ensemble plays off the other. That's why they are called "teams".HONEST questions and NO disrespect intended...toward you or ANYONE my hopefully new-"ish" (been here but mostly lurked not wanting to upset the apple cart in a great forum) Rams friends.
