in a one-gap 3-4 one of the OLBers is a de facto DE and usually, last year, it was Quinn. And in nickel QUinn was the RDE where he got 6 of his 8.5 sacks.
There are essentially two defenses the base and the sub (nickel and dime)
In the base it is a 3-4 one gap defense with one DT and one DE and one NT. and one OLB committed to a gap
In nickel it is 2 DE and 2 DTs, last year the 2 DEs where Barwin and Quinn (spelled by Samson and Longacre)
