I appreciate your POV, but I think that Goff (going into his 1st full season as a starter) has a lot to learn.
For example, he might understand McVay's offense, but does he understand the opponent's defense? How does he respond in a two-minute offense?
Some of these important issues take time to acquire and might not have anything to do with WR's, OL, or knowledge of his own offense.
I NEVER said Goff didn't have a lot to learn.
That doesn't mean you can't tell if he's a player or not. I'm not expecting anything close to a finished product. I'm expecting demonstrations of periods of competence. Does not have to be sustained for long periods, but not a guy who looks totally lost out there. It's not hard to see that in a young QB.
Don't get caught up in the "we've got plenty of time" mindset.
That's for guys who are fine with kicking cans down the road and then comfortable with accepting busts like GRob at the end.
