Teams make calculations as to what a certain player at a certain position is worth to them. Clearly Groh wasn't worth any more or they would have offered more. Demhoff isn't stupid about how this works. He's done this a long time.
A team is simply not going to reel in a fish every time they throw their line in the water.

I'll save you some time. I said he was a cap casualty for them to make the upgrades that they wanted to make in free agency and the draft.
That would include ALL of the free agent acquisitions and moving forward to the draft.
They had a significant savings cutting Barnes, over $2M.
My post was not implying it was Barnes for Groy.It's okay...it happens.
