the recipe for Green Chartreuse is a closely guarded secret ... many herbs and spices are sent to the distillery that are never used so as to throw off track those that would try to figure out the ingredients used.

I've been in the wine business all my life ... and there are some highly regarded wine journals that rate wine ... though it makes sense to me that everyday consumers care about what the ratings are in the magazines ... I consider it a joke for people in my side of the business to make purchasing decisions based on those ratings.

I understand where you’re coming from. And in your industry the rating sources may be a joke. It sounds to me like the powers that be in your industry don’t subscribe to the ratings. And if they did, it could be because they know the rating source greatly influences the public and want to know what the public is thinking for marketing or other purposes.

But a perfect parallel in analogies would be if ¾ of the people who make purchasing decisions in your business consult those magazines for their ratings. At that point, it would no longer be a joke.

In all my years in business, I’ve never seen a business subscribe to an industry resource that they considered a joke or not credible.
